CINDERELLA

Pauline Viardot

Northern Opera Group | 2020

Filmed during the lockdown in November 2020, this production of Viardot's 60 minute retelling of the classic fairytale brought together a professional principal cast with a community chorus. While the majority of the action was filmed on location in and around Leeds, the entire chorus participated in the rehearsals and filming from their own homes.

"GILPIN MAKES EXCELLENT USE FO THE SETTING, GROUNDING PROCEEDINGS IN REALITY FROM THE START... A CAPABLE CAST IS SUPPORTED BY AN INGENIOUSLY SCREENED COMMUNITY CHORUS; THE IMAGES OF NOT ALWAYS APPROPRIATE FEET FOR THE SHOE-FITTING SCENE ARE WITTILY PRESENTED."
